Poetry feeds the soul

Angie’s chapbook, Balm for the Living, is available now at Finishing Line Press and at Bookshop.org

An award-winning poet, Angie writes in the cool gray sea light of San Francisco. She has lived in the Excelsior neighborhood for 35 years, raised two brilliant children here, and now lives with her inspirational husband and two spoiled cats. These gentle creatures keep her happy and grounded.

Angie is on the poetry staff of The MacGuffin, a national literary journal produced at Schoolcraft College. In addition to her recent chapbook Balm for the Living, she is coauthor of Dreams and Blessings: Six Visionary Poets, an anthology of poetry edited by Diane Frank and published by Blue Light Press.

She was also honored to win first prize in the Journeys Category of the 2021 Ina Coolbrith Poetry Contest for Driving to the Sun with My Daughter, now published in Courtship of Winds. Her sonnet, Fisherwoman at 101, won second prize in the 2021 Soul-Making Keats Literary Competition. Every Tear A Prayer won first prize in the Prose Poem Category in the 2020 Soul-Making Keats Literary Competition and was published in Unbroken Journal. A Messenger won honorable mention in the 2021 Passager Poetry Contest.

As June Jordan so aptly said, “Poetry is a political act because it involves telling the truth.”
